See Yokohama from up high atop the Landmark Tower! One of our top things to do in Yokohama, the Landmark Tower viewing deck (Sky Garden) is located on the 69th floor and is the tallest observation deck in Yokohama.

It was once Japan’s tallest building, until it was overtaken in 2014 by several Tokyo towers and observation decks.
We visited the Yokohama Landmark viewing deck at dusk and after taking Japan’s fastest elevator up, we were treated to sunset views of Yokohama, its port and the Cosmo 21 Wheel all lit up at night.

Better yet, we were lucky enough to see a clear sunset view of Mount Fuji in the distance; one of our most memorable nights in Japan!
From prices to panoramic views, here is our ultimate guide to to visiting the Yokohama Landmark Tower.

How to get to Landmark Tower viewing deck in Yokohama
It is easy to get to Landmark Tower by public transport – it is a 3 minute walk from Minatomirai Station or a 5 minute walk from Sakuragicho Station (via a very funky escalator).

Japan’s fastest elevator
Given how fast the Landmark Tower lift is (Japan’s quickest), you’ll be at the 69th floor Sky Garden and observation deck quicker than you know it (well, just over 30 seconds). So fast is the acceleration and altitude, our ears popped!

Incidentally, if you want to do some shopping before or after, there is a mall below in the Landmark Tower with brands such as H&M, Banana Republic, Hard Rock Cafe and many more plus convenience stores like 7-Eleven and Lawson.
Once at the top (and your ears have gone pop), you are free to explore the Landmark Tower viewing deck at your leisure. We purposely timed our visit to arrive just before sunset and then stayed until well after dark.

Landmark Tower Yokohama viewing deck
The Yokohama Landmark Tower viewing deck is laid out in a circular route which also includes a small lounge area and bar / cafe – the Sky Cafe.
Most of the Sky Garden windows are floor to ceiling so it is great for panoramic views (although the reflections can make night photography tricky).

From the top, you can see all of Yokohama’s port and bay area including the famous Cosmo 21 wheel all lit up, the popular Red Brick warehouses plus Yokohama Cosmo World, a cute and kitsch Yokohama waterfront theme park that is illuminated in the evenings.
There are several telescopes you can use for better views (for a small fee) plus some interpretation panels showing you all the main views and Yokohama attractions down below.

Landmark Tower Yokohama and Mt Fuji
Possibly the most asked question about Landmark Tower – can you see Mount Fuji from the top?!
Yes, on a clear day, you can see Mount Fuji from Yokohama Landmark Tower – we were there on a super clear and crisp winter evening and had an incredible view of the snowy peak.

The great thing about the Landmark Tower observation deck / Sky Garden is that it has a viewing area that looks out west over Yokohama and Kanagawa, with a great view of the peak.
We were lucky enough to grab one of the chairs in the window looking out directly towards Mount Fuji – this really is a million dollar view for just 1,000 Yen.

Food and drink at the Landmark Tower
This is also a great spot to order a beer or coffee from the Sky Cafe bar and enjoy some brews with serious views – the Mount Fuji view from Landmark Tower was one of our Yokohama highlights!
New for 2024, the Sky Cafe now offers Yokohama sunset cocktails, consisting of sparkling wine, pomegranate, guava and orange juice – 800 Yen per cocktail. Kanpai!

If you feel like having a bite to eat before / after visiting the observation deck, the mall below has lots of nice eateries and chain restaurants including Din Tai Fung, Afuri Ramen, Botejyu Okonomiyaki and Miyatake Udon.
We found the options at the Sky Cafe itself quite limited in terms of snacks and food.
