Tokyo Midtown in Christmas 2025 – photos and what to expect

There are several Christmas lights displays, Christmas Trees and winter illuminations in Tokyo Midtown this Christmas including:

Tokyo Midtown Christmas Lights – Ensemble

The Christmas light theme at Tokyo Midtown for 2024 was ‘Ensemble’ (2025 is still TBC) but we guarantee it will be one ‘soap-er’ Christmas in Tokyo.

Yes, last year, there were over 200,000 soap bubble illuminations dotted around the park and there is a regular snow bubble show where fantastic, festive foam ‘rains’ down over the crowd and lights.

There are soap bubbles and snow effects so this is one place in Tokyo where you are guaranteed a white Christmas (well unless the snow machine breaks)!

The soap bubbles fall once every 6 minutes and the fake snow falls down once every 15 minutes (although on our visit, the snowflakes were kinda small and barely noticeable) – hopefully they will improve.

Tokyo Midtown Christmas Walk of Light

One of the more traditional Tokyo Christmas light displays, the Walk of Light in Midtown Park is like walking through a wonderful winter wonderland.

The trees in Midtown Park are illuminated in golden colors and are a magical Christmas backdrop – this was one of the most popular places for seasonal selfies. Plus there were lots of dogs being photographed in Christmas jumpers; amazing!

One of the highlights is a huge tree that has stood in the park for decades, dressed up as a traditional Christmas tree – it sparkles and is surely one of the biggest real ‘Christmas trees’ in Tokyo!

The Walk of Light at Tokyo Midtown this Christmas and New Year illuminates nightly from 5pm until 11pm, until late February 2026.

KOSÉ Midtown Ice-rink

From late November 2025 to February 2026, you can skate one on Tokyo’s top Christmas ice-skating rinks.

An annual Christmas tradition in Tokyo, the Christmas ice-skating rink at Tokyo Midtown Grass Square has popped up every winter for 15 years and is a n-’ice’ thing to do!

Open daily (except New Year’s day in Tokyo), it is one of the biggest outdoor Christmas skating rinks in Tokyo (using real ice) with ice-skating sessions available daily from 11am to 9pm.

Tokyo Midtown Christmas ice-skating fees for 2024 / 2025 were:

  • Weekdays: 1,800 Yen for adults and 1,200 Yen for children
  • Weekend and public holidays: 2,000 Yen for adults and 1,400 Yen for children

Penguin sleds for children can also be rented!

Santa Tree 2025

Finally, if it is wet weather or you don’t fancy the cold outside, we also spotted a Tokyo Midtown Santa Tree indoors on the 1st floor of the Galleria that has a Christmas tree made from 1,600 Santas – hopefully it will return in 2025.

The 4 meter tall Father Christmas fir tree had lots of snowy ornaments and is a great thing to see in Tokyo with kids at winter.
