Christmas at Tokyo Marunouchi shopping malls and Marunouchi Street Park is always a special time.
This year, the 2025 Marunouchi Christmas lights begin on 13 November 2025 with some Disney theming and lanterns. Last year, there were Super Mario Christmas lights and decorations around Marunouchi – perhaps they should have called it Mario-nouchi!? And a few years ago, it was Harry Potter!
A very merry Christmas awaits in Marunouchi’s Nakadori Avenue – see over 1 million LED lights strung into the trees in this famous shopping area near Ginza in downtown Tokyo.

As well as the outdoor lights, there are usually lots of super selfie spots in the buildings around Marunouchi and Brick Square.
From 13 November 2025 to mid January 2026, Tokyo Marunouchi Christmas lights up all the featured malls and office buildings nearby. The outdoor Marunouchi Winter Illuminations stay on until 15 February 2026.

From the cool Christmas decorations to the outdoor Christmas market, here is our guide to Marunouchi Christmas in 2025 / 2026 with photos.
Please note all the photos in this article relate to the Christmas 2024 lights when it was Super Mario themed – this year in 2025, it is Disney themed.

Marunouchi in Christmas 2025 – photos and what to expect
There will be several Christmas markets, displays and winter illuminations in Marunouchi this Tokyo Christmas.
This year in 2025, Disney characters and theming will take center stage with the likes of Winnie the Pooh, Toy Story and Frozen all being featured in illumination form.
Here is what we saw at Marounchi Christmas last year to give you a taster of what to expect:
Marunouchi light winter illuminations
From 13 November 2025 until 15 February 2026, Maruouchi Naka-Dori Street lights up with around 1 million white LEDs.
Many of the fine fashion stores along Marunouchi Naka-Dori Street also have their own Christmas displays outside. For instance in 2024, Tiffany’s had the most beautiful woodpecker illumination outside their stall, made to look like sparkling gems and jewels.

The walk along the whole illuminated street takes around 15 to 20 minutes with lots of seating spots and coffee / cafe pop-ups along the way.

This is a good one to combine with the Tokyo Midtown Hibiya Christmas Lights, which for 2024, was themed with Disney Moana 2 Christmas decorations and trees. Given Marounchi Christmas 2025 is a Disney theme again, they must love the character! Or get paid loads by Disney!
Marunouchi Naka Dori Street becomes a pedestrian only / car free zone from mid November until 26 December 2025 so it is a great place for safe Christmas shopping in Tokyo.

Marunouchi Street Park Christmas market
Running daily 11am to 10pm from 13 November until 25 December, Marunouchi Street Park has five blocks of Christmas stalls and special pop-up events.

We visited on opening night last year and there were some beautiful stalls – the most popular Christmas stall at Marunouchi Street Park was a Harmonier pop-up selling beautiful Christmas decorations and wreaths. It even had a dog selfie spot which proved very popular!

Marunouchi Bright Holiday featuring Super Mario and stamp trail (2024)
Please note 2025 will be Disney themed and NOT Super Mario themed
We were lucky enough to be at the Tokyo Marunouchi building on 14 November (2024) when the Super Mario Christmas Lights in Tokyo were unveiled.

Taking up the whole of the Marunouchi Building atrium and looking amazing, here you can see a huge golden Christmas decoration display featuring Mario, Luigi, Daisy, Toad, Goomba and more.
Every 15 minutes from 5pm-9pm, there is a lightshow and the decorations light up in various colors – so festive!

As part of the Tokyo Marunouchi Christmas Super Mario lights, there is also a stamp trail where you can collect stamps (free to participate) at nine different locations including the Marunouchi Building itself.

There are also several pop-up Super Mario Christmas displays including Toad’s Holiday Garden at Marunouchi Brick Square Ichigokan Plaza.

Inside the Marunouchi Building atrium next to the main Super Mario light display is a pop-up shop where you can buy Nintendo themed gifts!
