Tokyo November 2025 Festivals and Events
From festive fun to fireworks, there is lots to enjoy in Tokyo in November:
Tokyo Christmas 2025 events in November
Many of the top Tokyo Christmas activities begin from November – we were lucky enough to spend last Christmas in Tokyo so here are some of our top Christmas markets and displays to go to:
Tokyo Christmas Market 2025 in Meiji Jingu Gaien
21 November to 25 December 2025
Tokyo’s biggest Christmas Market, this Winter Wonderland was one of our favorite things to do in Tokyo at Christmas and it returns to Meiji Jingu Gaien in November 2025.

Very similar to the European Christmas Markets, here you’ll find dozens of alpine style cabins with lots of festive food and drink stalls, street performers, magicians and even Santa Claus himself.
Live music and entertainment is also provided but food and drink prices are a little expensive compared to Japanese chain restaurants.

Fun for all the family, you can buy gorgeous Christmas gifts like Russian dolls or fragrant candles plus children can ride on Thomas the Tank Engine or meet Father Christmas.
Dining choices include German sausages, Lindt chocolate pick and mix (so popular) plus mulled wine and huge steins of German beer – prost!

One of Tokyo’s biggest Christmas lights and winter illumination events in 2025 / 2026, tickets are now on sale for the Tokyo Mega Illumi lights >

Visitors to the Christmas Tokyo Mega Illuminations at Oi racecourse can enjoy various winter illuminations such as a fountain show synchronized to music, the Northern Lights / Aurora Borealis display, a huge 100-meter Christmas light tunnel plus you can see tiny miniature horses.

We went to see the Tokyo racecourse Christmas lights last year and thought it was easily one of the top 5 Christmas displays in the city and well worth the small entry free – check out our guide to the Tokyo Mega Illuminations here >
So don’t horse around – book your Tokyo Mega Illuminations tickets here with Klook on from 1 November 2025 until 11 January 2026 >

Tokyo Skytree Christmas Town 2025 market
6 November 2025 to 25 December 2025
Every winter, the Tokyo Skytree lights up in different colors – this kind of makes it the biggest Christmas tree in Japan!

Downstairs in the Sky Arena area, there is a small Tokyo Skytree Christmas market with pop-up performances and festive projection mapping – also make sure you get selfies at the seasonal photo spots.

The Tokyo Skytree Christmas market is free and runs daily from 6 November to 25 December 2025, 11am – 10pm (last orders at 9pm).

Roppongi Hills Christmas illuminations 2025
4 November to 25 December 2025
Honestly, this was the craziest Christmas in Tokyo activity we went to – the annual Roppongi Hills Christmas lights along Keyakizaka Street illuminates in mid November every year, with fairy lights strewn in trees along Roppongi’s famous fashion district.

Thousands visit every evening but the mad thing is that people run out across the road when cars stop at the traffic lights to pose in the middle of the road with the Roppongi Tower lit up in the background.

The Roppongi Hills Christmas lights are well worth a visit but it is utter chaos given the huge crowds it attracts – but in a beautifully bizarre kind of way!
The Roppongi Hills Christmas Illuminations are free to visit and light up from the 4 November until 25 December 2025. The Roppongi Christmas Market also opens up daily from 22 November 2025.

Ice Skating & Christmas Lights at Tokyo Midtown 2025 / 2026
Lights: 13 November 2025 until 25 December 2025
Ice skating: 21 November 2025 until 23 February 2026
An annual Christmas tradition, the Tokyo Midtown Christmas ice-skating rink and winter illuminations has popped up every winter for over 15 years and is a n-’ice’ thing to do!

Open daily from 21 November 2025 to 23 February 2026, it is the biggest outdoor Christmas skating rink in Tokyo with ice-skating sessions available daily from 11am to 9pm (last entry 8pm).
Skating costs from 2,000 Yen per adult, and 2,300 Yen between 13 December 2025 and 4 January 2026 (plus 500 Yen for skate-hire).
If you don’t like skating or would rather just enjoy the winter lights, Hinochiko Park next door plays host to a massive winter illumination trail which is free to visit.

In addition, the Tokyo Midtown Christmas Walk of Light in Midtown Park is like walking through a wonderful winter wonderland.
The trees in Midtown Park are illuminated in golden colors and are a magical Christmas backdrop – this was one of the most popular places for seasonal selfies. Plus there were lots of dogs being photographed in Christmas jumpers!

Mt. Takao Autumn Leaves Festival
25 October to 14 December 2025
Tokyo in Autumn time is hard to top and one of the best known fall festivals is the Mt. Takao Autumn Leaves Festival, held throughout November.
Around a 1 hour drive from Tokyo or 2 hours by public transport, this is a celebration of colorful Autumn leaves and gathers large crowds.
As well as exploring the foliage on foot, one of the best ways to see all the Mt. Takao Autumn Leaves is by taking a cable car to the peak of the mountain from Kiyotaki Station.

Tori-no-Ichi 2025
12 and 24 November 2025
A religious festival and celebration held at Otori shrine in Asakusa, Tori-no-Ichi 2025 takes place over two separate days in November and dates back to the Edo period.

Locals come to the shrine to make wishes and blessings and to buy ‘kumade’ (beautifully decorated bamboo rakes) which ‘rake in’ wealth and gold coins (a sign of prosperity).
The Tori-no-Ichi 2025 festival in Asakusa runs for 24 hours on both the 12 and the 24 November and there will also be lots of food and special souvenir stalls.

Meiji Shrine Autumn Grand Festival
1 to 3 November 2025 (main activities on 3 November – Culture Day)
Located in Shibuya, Meiji Shrine is one of the most famous shrines and this annual fall festival in Tokyo celebrates Emperor Meiji.

Wearing traditional costumes and showcasing Japanese crafts, most of the activities take place on the national holiday (Culture Day) including the renowned Yabusame (horseback archery) performance, martial arts and live performances.
Many worshippers will attend Meiji Shrine during the Autumn grand festival so it can get busy.
Tokyo Ramen Festa 2025
23 October to 3 November 2025
Slurp your way along to Komazawa Olympic Park Plaza this November for the ultimate Tokyo Ramen Festa – around 39 different ramen restaurants cram into this outdoor plaza, showcasing the best of regional ramen flavours.
There are three rotations each over several days, with different ramen restaurants at each – so if you love ramen, you can go to each of the different rotations and try new ramen bowls every time – how cool!

Tickets were allocated using a lottery system and have now sold out, but there are many places to view the fireworks for free such as Kasumigaura Comprehensive Park.
