Roppongi Hills Christmas light Illuminations along Keyakizaka Street switch on from early November 2026 and will light up Roppongi every evening until 25 December 2026.
Perhaps Tokyo’s best free Christmas lights, Roppongi Hills has the perfect festive setting with the whole area lit white and blue LEDs and the lit up Roppongi Tower in the background, whilst boutique fashion stores like Louis Vuitton have Christmas window displays.

It is certainly a Tokyo Christmas spectacle in Roppongi – not only the Christmas illuminations but the sheer number of people running into the road every time the traffic lights go red to get the ultimate seasonal selfie or festive photo.
The Roppongi Hills Christmas Market also opens from mid November 2026 to 25 December 2026 from 11am to 9pm daily (times still TBC).

Roppongi Hills Christmas Lights for 2026
With almost 1 million white and blue LEDs decorating all the trees along Keyakizaka-dori / street, Roppongi Hills at Christmas looks stunning.
From 5pm to midnight every night from early November to 25 December 2026, Roppongi Hills lights up and looks stunning.
Thousands descend on Roppongi Hill for the Christmas illuminations (mainly dressed in white for selfie shoots and group photos) and the whole thing does get a bit busy and zany, as people jostle and push to try and get the best Roppongi Hills Christmas lights pictures.
We visited and saw the lights in early November 2024 and it was madness. For the best picture spot, head to the footbridge that goes over Keyakizaka Street from O-yane Plaza from Roppongi Hills Arena and shopping mall.
You’ll likely join hundreds of others if you are going a peak slot and you’ll have to slowly edge your way to the front of the queue – but this is the best photo spot as you can get all the Christmas lights, road, people and Roppongi Tower lit up in the background in one shot.

Roppongi Hills Christmas Lights 2026 on Keyakizaka Street
For us, the reason why visiting Tokyo’s Roppongi Hills is so much fun is the mad dash people make back and forth across the pedestrian crossing towards the top of the hilly Keyakizaka Street by Roppongi Hills Arena.
As the traffic lights turn red, hundreds dash into the middle of the road and take pictures before frantically moving on 10 seconds later – security guards are on hand to blow their whistles (soooo loud), wave their light-up traffic beacons and generally ensure the traffic keeps going.
Honestly, it is so much fun to be a part of but we do feel a bit sorry for the security staff having to keep the hordes of people at bay.
It is also nice to see Roppongi Hill stores along Keyakizaka Street like Tiffany and Louis Vuitton get into the Christmas spirit with festive store window displays.
The illuminations continue across Roku-Roku Plaza and the nearby Mohri Gardens.
Roppongi Hills Christmas Market – mid November 2026 to 25 December 2026
The Roppongi Hills Christmas Market takes place at O-yane Plaza and usually consists of a small number of festive food and drink stalls.
It is very small compared to say Tokyo Christmas Market or Tokyo Skytree Christmas Market but always lots of fun.
Be aware, given its size, you may have to queue quite a long time to get in during peak hours (which is what we witnessed when we tried to visit the Roppongi Hills Christmas Market in previous years).

How to get to Roppongi Hills
The nearest station is Roppongi Station on the silver Hibiya Line or purple Oedo Line.
Head upstairs through the Roppongi Hills mall towards the arena via O-Yane plaza – it is around a 5 minute walk from the station to the Roppongi Hills Christmas illuminations.
Alternatively, it is a slightly longer walk from the Azabujūban Station on the light blue Namboku Line.
Roppongi Hills Christmas activities can also easily be combined with the Yebisu Garden Place Christmas Lights and Markets which are just two stops away on the Hibiya line.
