Arriving at Mega Pokémon Center Tokyo

As you first visit the store, this Tokyo Mega Pokémon Center is cool and cute – that said, there are sometimes queuing systems in place, especially when there is a new release, Pokémon trading card event or exclusive Pokémon merchandise has just dropped.

And in case you ask – are Pokémon Centers free to visit in Tokyo? Yes, they are free admission but you might sometimes need to line up for free admission tickets for special events. So if you don’t like queues, avoid the weekends or school holidays.

Before gaming or delving into the Pokémon merchandise, there are several sweet photo and selfie spots including scenes with Pokémon characters like Froakie and Piplup – plus big Pikachus all over!

Kudos to the person who thought to put Pokeball light shades outside the store – very cool and a neat design touch!

Pokémon trading card game and battle area

As with most Pokémon Centers, there is a dedicated Pokémon trading card area where you can buy the latest cards or play against others – definitely one of the busiest areas in the store at weekends.

Pokémon Cafe & Pikachu Sweets

Eat like a Pokémon – Pokémon  Cafe is one of the most unique things to do in Tokyo.

We also really like the Pokémon Latte Art Cafe Poltchageist drinks, where your favourites characters are sprinkled on top of your drink in chocolate powder.

Finish off with a Pokémon Cafe Pikachu Souffle Pancake or a Poké Ball Dessert Bowl – look out for Pokémon plushies exclusive to the cafe including Pokémon dressed as a patisserie chef.
