Odaiba in Tokyo is known for its incredible views, seaside sight-seeing and weird and wonderful tourist attractions.
An artificial island in Tokyo Bay looking out towards Rainbow Bridge, Odaiba has lots of oddball things to do, from a replica Statue of Liberty and a poop museum to a giant Gundam statue which transforms several times a day.

With several retail malls, you can also shop ‘til you drop in Odaiba or arrive in style via a water ferry from Asakusa. Many of the buildings here have awesome architecture including the huge spherical observation deck atop the Fuji TV building.

How to get to Odaiba in Tokyo
By Water Bus
There are several ways to get to Odaiba in Tokyo – the most fun way is to take a water bus from Asakusa to Odaiba Seaside Park.
The journey takes around one hour and there are several departures a day, usually from 10am until 4pm.
By Monorail
Another way to get to Odaiba is by the Yurikamome Monorail which departs from Shimbashi Station.
The nearest Monorail station to Odaiba is the Odaiba-Kaihinkoen Station.
We did the monorail and it was really good fun – try and bag the front seat so you can pretend you’re driving!
By Train
By train to Odaiba, take the the Rinkai Line from Shibuya, Shinjuku or Ikebukuro to the amazingly named Tokyo Teleport Station.
Alternatively, you can arrive on foot and enjoy the Tokyo Bay views and cityscape from walking over the Rainbow Bridge lower level footpath to Odaiba.

Odaiba, Tokyo in Japan – 30 things to do
1. Odaiba to Asakusa Tokyo Water Bus / Ferry
Half the fun of visiting Odaiba in Tokyo is the way you arrive or depart – one of the best ways to arrive and observe Odaiba from the water is to take the Odaiba water bus that goes between Odaiba and Asakusa on a regular basis.
The boat journey between Odaiba and Asakusa takes around one hour and is a wonderful way to see Tokyo from the water – there are several different boat types to choose from.
On our Odaiba boat-trip, we had incredible weather and stunning views. One of the most fun bits was the captain coming up to the top deck to tell all to duck when we went under a very low bridge – watch your head!

2. Odaiba Takoyaki Museum
Not so much a museum as a fantastic food-court dedicated to different types of Japan’s famous takoyaki balls (battered balls that usually contain octopus, pickled ginger and spring onion / scallions).
Like a takoyaki theme-park, the Odaiba Takoyaki Museum food-court has some really nice theming plus several stalls all doing slightly different types of takoyaki.
Try the Osaka original version with octopus or try a mixture of different flavours like cheese or mentai.

3. Odaiba Statue of Liberty
No, you aren’t seeing things as you approach Odaiba – there really is a replica, scaled down version of the Statue of Liberty in Tokyo.
A little bit of the USA in Odaiba, this novel New York replica was unveiled over 20 years ago as a sign of appreciation to the people of France for the ongoing positive relationship between Japan and France – sugoi!
Although smaller than the real thing (it is 1/7th scale), the Odaiba Statue of Liberty is an incredible replica and free to visit.
It is easy to get up close to the statue by using the spiral boardwalks that go from the Odaiba Marine Park beach or the Decks Tokyo Beach complex.
Another weird and wonderful thing to do in Tokyo, it may come as a surprise that this isn’t the only Statue of Liberty replica in Japan – there are ‘sister’ statues in the Osaka American Village and Shimoda.
4. Tokyo Joypolis
A joyful Japanese gaming experience, Tokyo Joypolis in Odaiba is billed as Japan’s largest indoor theme-park filled with over 20 SEGA arcade games and interactive VR experiences.
This flagship Japan Joypolis store has a series of sensational rides and games like the Gekion Live Roller Coaster, the first coaster attraction in the world that allows you to control the ride through music and rhythm.
You can also enjoy the group shoot-em-up Pirate’s Plunder Game or scream and spin battle on the hedonistic Halfpipe Tokyo experience.
Get your Tokyo Joypolis passport with Klook or Viator – which gives you unlimited readmission to the indoor theme park all day meaning you can combine it with other things to do in Odaiba.
5. Fuji Television Headquarters “HACHITAMA” Spherical Observation Room
For spectacular views of Odaiba, Tokyo Bay (and possibly even Mount Fuji on a clear day), head on up to the the 25th floor of Fuji TV’s Odaiba headquarters to see their super sky deck (or ‘Spherical Observation Room’ as they call it).
A panoramic Tokyo observation deck that has James Bond baddy base vibes, the Fuji TV viewing platform is over 120 metres high from the ground.
Highlights include aerial views of Rainbow Bridge, Tokyo Tower and the Odaiba Marine Park seascape.
At the top, you’ll also find a few gachapon machines featuring Fuji TV characters plus telescopes and binoculars.
Tickets for the Odaiba sphere observation deck are available from a ticket booth near the entrance. On the ground floor, there is also a free to visit shop featuring Fuji TV character merchandise.
6. Unko museum / Poop Museum Tokyo
One of the ‘cr@ppiest’ things to do in Odaiba (literally)! Best described as a poop inspired Tokyo theme park, the Odaiba Unko Museum might not be for everyone (don’t poo-poo the idea) but kids will surely love it.
From big pink poos to colourful ‘cr@ps’, delightful dung to super sh!t attractions, Unko Museum in Odaiba is quite the weird and wonderful Tokyo kids attraction.
One of the activities is to sit down on a toilet, yell “UNKOOOO!” and generate your own poop friend that will accompany you inside (we are not making this up) – or take a dive in a ‘poop-filled’ ball pit (!!!).

7. Unicorn Gundam Statue
Odaiba is known for its crazy attractions and theme-park style attractions – it should come as now surprise then that Odaiba is also home to a giant Gundam robot / mecha statue.
20 metres high and a towering presence, this massive mecha model is a lifesize RX-0 Unicorn Gundam replica that springs into life every hour, gathering a huge crowd.
The model moves and changes between its Unicorn and Destroyer modes (to be honest, the Unicorn Gundam statue ‘transformation’ isn’t that great. The only change is the Unicorn mode has a huge spike / horn on its head whilst the Destroyer mode has extra lights).
That said, we saw the performance in the daytime but it is meant to be better in the evenings when lit up.
The Odaiba DiverCity Unicorn Gundam Statue ‘show’ / performance happens daily at Unicorn Gundam Statue at 11am, 1pm, 3pm and 5pm.
At night, the Unicorn Gundam Statue transforms every 30 minutes from 7pm to 9.30pm and each half-hour transformation is different. New for 2025, the 7pm show is now “Gundam Series 45th Anniversary Special Movie”. Gundam Odaiba show times are correct as of October 2025.

8. teamLab Planets
The digital art museum teamLab Planets is one of Tokyo’s most famous immersive experiences and due to popular demand, has been extended until 2027!
teamLab Planets four large multimedia exhibition spaces and two gardens allow you to become one with the flowers and explore expanding three-dimensional existences – this is where art extends beyond traditional boundaries.
Tip – make sure you wear clothes that are above / can be rolled up over your knees, as part of the exhibition requires walking through water.

9. Odaiba Marine Park
Also known as Tokyo Beach, this city seascape is a 800 metre artificial beach that offers stunning views and is a prime place for a picnic or alfresco walks.
A superb sunset spot, Odaiba Marine Park is a gorgeous green space and public park where you can enjoy watersports (but swimming is prohibited).
A nice respite from the hustle and bustle of the nearby Tokyo DiverCity and Decks Tokyo Beach malls with a great view of Rainbow Bridge, this is also where you jump aboard the the Odaiba to Asakusa water boats and shuttles.
10. Doraemon Future Department Store / Doraemon Time Square
The ultimate destination for Doraemon devotees, the Doraemon Future Department Store in Odaiba Divercity Tokyo Plaza is one of the cutest kawaii stores you’ll ever visit.
It is the very first official Doraemon shop in the world and is one of Odaiba’s most popular shops.
A Doraemon department store packed with thousands of Doraemon gifts from Dorami drapes to Nobi Nobita notepads, be sure to bring a big bag to take home all these dreamy Doraemon delights (or just buy a Doraemon bag whilst you are there!)
Other facilities at the Doraemon Future Department Store including gift engraving plus the interactive Secret Gadget Lab (four games, one of which is free – the Dorayaki throwing game looked the most fun!)
Be sure to also check out the Doraemon Time Square clock outside the DiverCity mall which plays the Doraemon theme tune every hour from 10am to 11pm.
You can also pose (for free) with huge Doraemon and Friends figures at Doraemon Times Square outside DiverCity – it is a small area with a few sublime selfie spots and fun for Doraemon devotees.

11. Small Worlds Tokyo
The world’s largest indoor miniature theme-park (apparently), you can get up close to some marvellous microscopic models at Small Worlds Tokyo including a tiny Kansai International Airport (completed with pint-sized planes).
Fans of Sailormoon and Evangelion will also love the miniature recreations of their favourite sets and scenes.
Travel the world too without leaving Tokyo by visiting the Global Village, filled with five fantastic tiny worlds that recreate Asia and Europe cityscapes.

12. Capsule toy planet store / C-Pla AquaCity Odaiba
Gachapon fans rejoice and bring out your inner Otaku in Odaiba – one of Japan’s largest Gachapon stores can be found in Odaiba.
Gachapon are vending machines that dispense capsule toys in a small round plastic case – the C-Pla Aquacity branch has hundreds of different gachapons to choose from.

13. Odaiba Retro Museum – formerly Daiba Itchome Shotengai
2025 Update – the free retro arcade Daiba Itchome Shotengai closed down in early 2025 and has now reopened as Odaiba Retro Museum with extra vintage attractions. The museum covers Japan’s Showa era (1920s to 80s) and costs 1,300 Yen admission.
One of the most unique and best things to do in Odaiba, take a step back in time and walk along the retro Daiba Itchome Shotengai street in the Decks Tokyo Beach shopping centre.
A treasure trove of old arcades, vintage shops and 1960’s style, this a recreation of an old Japanese style street whereby you can buy old school sweets, traditional threads and nice nostalgic novelty items.
We played some of the retro arcade games Daiba yuugijou games center which had lots of classic consoles plus loads of vintage props like Godzilla toys.
From caricature to old trading cards, Daiba Itchome Shotengai is a one stop shop for sublime souvenirs or just to have some old fashioned fun.
14. Aqua City Odaiba mall
A huge, modern shopping mall overlooking Tokyo Bay and Odaiba Marine Park, Aqua City has around 140 stalls and food kiosks, including a Gourmet Zone offering Japanese and international food fare.
Tokyo Ramen Kokugikan Mai on the fifth floor is home to several popular ramen shops around the country (a bit like the nearby Odaiba Takoyaki ‘Museum’).
To be honest, compared to the Decks Tokyo Beach and DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, Aqua City shopping centre isn’t that special so if you’ve had enough of shopping, give this mall a miss.
15. DiverCity Tokyo Plaza mall
Home to Odaiba’s biggest food court (Tokyo Gourmet Stadium), DiverCity Tokyo Plaza mall is home to some brilliant shops across its several levels including Doraemon Future Department Store and the Gundam Base.
From BIC Camera to 3 coins, ABC Mart to Adidas, there is plenty of fine fashion and gift shopping in DiverCity.
16. Odaiba Immersive Fort
Opened in March 2024, the Tokyo Immersive Fort experience is Japan’s newest immersive attraction and one of the largest indoor theme parks in Japan.
Located in an old Odaiba shopping mall, Tokyo Immersive Fort has transformed the huge indoor site into 10 different zones (including an English street recreation), 4 restaurants, cabaret entertainment, themed bars and huge gift-shops.
Billed as the ‘World’s First Immersive Theme Park” (their words) with a focus on immersive theater, the main attractions at Tokyo Immersive Fort are:

- Alice in Borderland The Ultimate Experience (new)

- Jack The Ripper

19. Toyosu Fish Market
Originally located at Tsukiji Fish Market, this relatively new fish market on the outer edges of Odaiba opened in 2018.
Visitors can watch the Toyosu Fish Market tuna auction very early in the morning or buy fish at the market and then have it cooked in one of the onsite restaurants.
Toyosu Fish Market has 100 stalls, shops and restaurants – it is best to visit in the morning as most restaurants close after the lunch trade.
The rooftop area of Toyosu Fish Market also offers nice views of the Tokyo Bay area and Tokyo Tower.

20. TYFFONIUM Odaiba
Described as a magical reality theatre, TYFFONIUM Odaiba has four immersive attractions under one roof.
The Magical Reality Corridor is a VR horror walk through adventure whilst in Fluctus, you get to sail on a ghostly pirate ship.
Get up close with a VR 360 degree monster in Kaiju Haven VR (kind of a Godzilla rip-off) or be taken on a voyage of reverie with a Tarot VR experience.
Each attraction at TYFFONIUM Odaiba is priced separately costing from 2,000 to 2,600 Yen per person (the prices vary per attraction).
21. Tokyo Trick Art Museum
Another Tokyo immersive experience straight outta Odaiba, Tokyo’s Trick Art Museum looks great on the ‘gram, full of 3D optical illusions and mind boggling immersive images.
From ghostly ghouls to Japanese ninjas or a close-encounter with a shark, there are lots of awesome photo opportunities and top snaps to take at Tokyo Trick Art Museum.

22. LEGOLAND Discovery Center Tokyo
Fantastic Plastic! Take a voyage of discovery at LEGOLAND Tokyo in Odaiba, a modest but fun indoor version of one of the world’s most famous theme-parks.
Attractions at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Tokyo include Miniland (recreating miniature brick versions of famous landmarks like Roppongi Tower), the Kingdom Quest interactive ride or see what you can build in the LEGO factory. A cute cafe is also available onsite.
A good thing to do in Odaiba / Tokyo with kids, LEGOLAND Discovery Center Tokyo starts from 1,800 Yen for offpeak slots if you book online below in advance.

23. Madame Tussauds Tokyo
We’re waxing lyrical about Madame Tussauds Tokyo.
Based in the Odaiba Decks Tokyo Beach mall, this Tokyo branch of Madame Tussauds has around 80 lifesize models and mannequins including Johnny Depp, Arnold ‘I’ll Be Back’ Schwarzenegger, Benedict Cumberbatch plus local legends like Masaki Suda.
Learn about how the waxworks are made or just strike a pose with Lady Gaga or recreate the famous scene from Breakfast at Tiffanys with a Audrey Hepburn mannequin.

24. Miraikan (National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation)
Japan’s national science museum located in Odaiba, the Miraikan museum is housed in a stunning building and hosts a rich mix of permanent galleries and temporary exhibitions on scientific subjects such as robots and the environment.
The most famous attraction at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation is the “Geo-Cosmos,” a huge 3D three-dimensional interpretation of the planet Earth and its orbit in outer space.
The Miraikin costs 630 Yen per adult or 210 Yen per child and is open every day except Tuesdays – information and prices correct as of 2025.

25. Rainbow Bridge, Odaiba
One of Tokyo’s most iconic bridges, the Rainbow Bridge crosses Tokyo Bay and one of the main access points to Odaiba.
Whilst the upper level is for cars and public transport, the lower level of Rainbow Bridge actually has a pedestrian walkway which offers stunning views of the bay and is a popular spot for local joggers and cyclists (bikes must be mounted on the small trolley system).
Entrance to Rainbow Bridge is free and on a clear day, you can see Mount Fuji.
26. Toyota Arena Tokyo at Odaiba
New for 2025 and opened in October Odaiba now also has one of the newest and biggest arenas in Japan, Toyota Arena Tokyo.
This will be both a concert stadium plus be the home court of local basketball team lvark Tokyo, a member of the B League.
Concerts at Toyota Arena Tokyo will include Jackson Wang, Hiromitsu Kitayama, sumika, and TOMORROW X TOGETHER. Later in the year, Jackson Wang.
27. Odaiba Winter Illuminations
Mid November to mid February
Free to visit, the Odaiba Christmas and Winter Illuminations sprawl across several Odaiba malls including the Decks every year from mid November to February.
This is one of the best Tokyo views any time of the year but even more so at Christmas.
Every year, the Odaiba Christmas Illumination “YAKEI” shines with the night view of Tokyo Bay and Rainbow Bridge in the background, against an epic cityscape with a 20 meter tall Christmas tree at the center.
The Christmas lights turn on every evening from sunset until midnight – there are sometimes fireworks too.
