Things to do at Shiroi Koibito Park
Billed as a chocolate theme park, Shiroi Koibito Park is one of the best things to do in Sapporo (and slightly more child-friendly than Sapporo’s other top attraction – the Sapporo Beer Museum).
With five floors of fun and a beautiful English style garden and Tudor mansion frontages outside, there is something to suit all ages and paces (plus who doesn’t love to try the actual Shiroi Koibito chocolate)?

And there is also a free garden and other areas to explore if some of the group don’t want to pay to do the chocolate factory tour and choc-tastic mansion.
There are several areas to explore and you can buy your admission tickets when you first enter.

The key things to do and attractions at Shiroi Koibito Park include:
Chocotopia House and chocolate factory tour (paid)
As adults, this was the most fun bit for us of Shiroi Koibito Park – you can see a cute Kawaii style production line model of how the magical biscuits are supposedly made (great for kids) juxtaposed against a window showing a real production line, where workers make and bake the famous Shiroi Koibito biscuits.

One of the bits we found most interesting was the museum and Shiroi Koibito history section.
Not being natives of Japan, we were unaware as to the huge Shiroi Koibito scandal in 2007 whereby workers had been caught changing expiry dates.
It was a huge national scandal and the Shiroi Koibito president resigned – despite this, people’s love for Shiroi Koibito cookies hasn’t waned.

Chocotopia House Projection Mapping
See how chocolate is made in this immersive manufacturing process – to be honest, we thought it was a bit meh.

Chocolate tasting (500 Yen)
For a small additional fee, there are tasting sessions every hour from 11.15am to 4.15pm where you can taste the original cocoa beans through to the finished Shiroi Koibito biscuit, whilst projection mapping and graphics help to heighten your taste buds and senses. Nom!

Sweets Workshop Dream Kitchen (1,200 Yen to 1,500 Yen)
Sweet dreams are made of this – but not if you don’t book in advance as this was sold out on the day we visited.
Learn how to create your own cookie and chocolate and become a star chocolatier (probably) in next to no time – you can create your own personalised Shiroi Koibito cookie for 1,200 Yen or a chocolate pie creator course for 1,500 Yen.

Photo Spots
There are several cute and colourful photo spots around the site including the Notting Hill (London) style arcade plus the ‘MAGICAL MARCHE’ giant tea-cup to sit and take a selfie on.

Outdoors, there are also some other things to do at Shiroi Koibito Park:
Shiroi Koibito Railway Site
All aboard the Shiroi Koibito express train – a little bit of Harry Potter magic, this looks just like the Hogwarts Express and travels on a small train track around the outside gardens with a small station and waiting room area.
2024 update – as of June 2024, it appears as though the Shiroi Koibito Railway isn’t currently running. Booo!

English Rose Garden
Like being back in the UK, the English rose garden is a seasonal space with beautiful blooms, white picket fences and a European style conservatory.

London Calling
Parts of the building look like an English style mock mansion and this was due to the founder’s love of England and Europe – so all aboard the red London bus or take a picture in front of the London black cab.

Shiroi Koibito Clock Tower
A European style clock tower with moving parts, every hour from 10am to 5pm, a mechanical parade of cute animals and characters appear from the clock tower.
It’s OK but nothing to the Studio Ghibli clock in Tokyo.

Gulliver Town POKKE
A miniature town for small people where tiny toys, cute clothes and cute cottages are available to enjoy – admission to Gulliver Town at Shiroi Koibito Park is included as part of your park admission fee.

Shiroi Koibito Gift Shop / Piccadilly Shop
And finally, possibly the main reason why so many people visit – the huge Shiroi Koibito Gift Shop AKA the Piccadilly Shop.
This is heaven for any Shiroi Koibito fans or souvenir shoppers – here you can buy everything from Shiroi Koibito gift-boxes to exclusive cookies that are only available in Shiroi Koibito park.

Also, there are lots of cute souvenirs like Shiroi Koibito souvenirs, ornate cookie boxes and fridge magnets – you can even customise your own biscuit tin with your own picture or take home some Shiroi Koibito tea-bags.

There are so many incredible Shiroi Koibito gifts and merchandise here that we’d recommend leaving lots of room in your suitcase (if you aren’t going to eat all the biscuits before you leave Japan!)
PS for Japan craft beer fans, there is also an exclusive Yotei Sanroku Shiroi Koibito Beer for 700 Yen – kanpai!

Other things to know about Shiroi Koibito Park
- Other than the actual Shiroi Koibito cookies and biscuits, there are lots of other places to eat and drink at the park including a curry basement restaurant, Cafe Butlers Wharf and the Canterbury soft serve ice-cream shack outside. Our favourite was the Chelsea Bake Shop where we stopped for some cake and coffee.

- Parking is available onsite – 300 Yen per three hours if paying admission to the tour or 300 Yen per hour if you are just doing the free section.
- The Miyanosawa Shiroi Koibito Soccer Field can be seen next door to the chocolate theme park – this has been funded by the chocolate company and plays hosts to local and school soccer games.
- Toilets, a worship / prayer room and paid for lockers are available onsite.
